The Energy Revolution™ – delivers critical power through pandemic…

GET Solutions have negotiated for their client The Holiday Inn Group to join an organisation called Process-19, which permits them to support our amazing NHS and keyworkers who are instrumental in the fight against this pandemic.

As the hotel chain provides accommodation for frontline staff through this critical time, they do so safely in the knowledge that the power delivered through GET Solutions’ ‘The Energy Revolution™’ is significantly reducing their energy costs and CO2 emissions.

The Coronavirus epidemic has decimated energy markets resulting in some of the lowest energy prices witnessed in recent times, however ‘The Energy Revolution™’ savings are guaranteed even against these unprecedented lower market prices, saving our client tens of thousands of pounds per site.

March Market Snapshot

Movements within the wholesale energy market can have a significant impact on the price a business will pay for their electricity and gas. The effective unit rate a business pays, includes the commodity cost (the cost of the energy that is consumed) and the third party charges which include but are not limited to Climate Change Levy (CCL), Renewables Obligation (RO), Feed in Tariffs (FiT), plus other transportation, and maintenance costs. The commodity costs account for circa 45% of an electricity bill and 65% of a gas bill. For further details regarding effective unit rates, please get in touch.

Strong winds combined with mild weather have resulted with lower UK electricity prices.

The coronavirus shutdowns are having an enormous effect on the UK economy and have caused a fall in the demand of electricity and subsequently UK prices have dropped by 23% during March. Combined with low gas prices, the milder weather and cheaper generation has led to an overall plunge in prices within the electricity market.

Gas prices have followed a downward trend over the year due to a fall in oil markets and other commodities.

The UK being in lockdown has reduced demand, which in conjunction with an ample supply and falls in the oil market has resulted in a significant reduction of circa 20% in UK gas prices.

The deterioration in the oil market has been driven by a dramatic reduction in demand due to coronavirus in conjunction with increased exports of the commodity from Saudi Arabia. This has left the US shale industry facing bankruptcy and prices at an all time low.

Incredibly oil prices have shed over 50% of its value in March with OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) disappointing markets by not reaching an agreement to follow demand and reduce production.

The resulting oversupply and Covid-19 lockdown across the globe have forecasts being revised downwards and further price reductions imminent.

Carbon prices follow the downward trend of other commodity prices.

Carbon had one of its largest drops in March with a circa 30% reduction in price as a result of the dramatic fall in economic activity across the globe due to coronavirus.

On the horizon:

Further global economic slowdown following the spread of the Coronavirus and some countries consider relaxing restrictions. More mild weather and a reduction in wind generation will influence commodity prices.

4 Top Tips

4 Top Tips during Coronavirus epidemic..

  1. Do NOT cancel Direct Debits – cancelling Direct Debits may result in higher charges being imposed by Suppliers on your Monthly Bills. Some suppliers add up to 7% on your Bill for Cash, Cheque, or BAC’s Payments.
  2. Submit Meter Reads on a Monthly Basis – if your business premises are non-consuming at the moment suppliers may continue to bill you on estimated reads based upon your previous usage history. Please adhere to Social Distancing rules when obtaining Meter Reads.
  3. If you are struggling to make ends meet, do not hesitate to contact your current supplier and discuss your situation with them. Have the following handy:
  • Account Number
  • Latest Energy Invoice
  • Previous Month Usage (in kWh on your invoice)
  • Some suppliers may ask for proof of Accounts, in order to provide evidence that you can keep up with payments in the future.
  1. Talk to us! Energy Prices have fallen rapidly since the start of this year and remain historically low thanks to demand side issues as a result of Covid-19. The Energy Revolution

The Energy Revolution™ – lowers bills through Coronavirus…

As businesses grapple with the changes imposed through social distancing as an outcome of Coronavirus, a common theme prevails for most… a reduction in takings.

A shortage in footfall, is having an impact on businesses and whilst the Government is putting measures in place to cushion the blow from the virus, bills must be paid, and businesses are hemorrhaging money as a result.

But for businesses that have invested in The Energy Revolution™ technologies, they continue to make savings even during these testing times. Paul Hale Director of Energy Services for GET Generation explains…

“A lot of organisations, but especially those in the Hospitality and Leisure industries are feeling the crunch as they have been forced to close due to social distancing. Occupancy and footfall levels have dropped through the floor, but despite no takings, their buildings are still consuming heat and power as many of these buildings can’t simply be switched off. This consumption is classed as a base load and can be a significant cost to their business when they are not operating”.

Paul continued “Energy Revolution™ customers are in the same boat, they’re not making money. However, they are in a stronger position as their energy costs remain lower. It’s true their consumption and energy costs may have dropped with occupancy levels, but their Energy Revolution savings (which are guaranteed) continue even at the lower consumption levels”.

GET Solutions service as normal.

We hope you, your families and colleagues are keeping safe and in good health during these challenging and unprecedented times. GET Solutions are operating our service as normal whilst adapting to the criteria set down by the Government.

We recognise that, during this difficult period, businesses have many priorities to juggle and we would like to let you know that we are here to fully support you in managing your energy requirements, ensuring continuity of supply, with minimal input from you. Our aim is simply to alleviate the burden that our customers are now facing.

Help to pay…

Currently, if organisations feel they are unable to pay their bills they should ring their energy supplier in order to discuss their situation and set up a payment plan. They should be armed with the following whilst speaking to their supplier:

– Account Number
– Previous Month Energy Usage
– Evidence that the business are able to meet repayments further down the line (company accounts)

Domestic users: domestic users will be able to do the same. However if you have a Pre-payment Meter and are struggling to ‘Top Up’, the Government and the Energy Industry have agreed that you can nominate a third party to ‘Top Up’ for you.

What does the Underground & G-GEN™ have in common?

What the Underground & G-GEN™ has in common.

A journey on London’s Underground can feel like an exercise in endurance. You will probably be able to recall an uncomfortable commute, being crammed into metal carriages, deep beneath the surface. So, a move by Islington Council to reduce this heat will be greatly appreciated by many. Waste heat from the London underground will be used to heat 1350 homes in London by the end of the year.

So where does the heat come from?

80% of the heat is generated by humans, from the constant braking and accelerating of trains, poor ventilation, the depth of the lines and the surrounding clay.

What are the benefits of using waste heat?

Continuously rising energy prices and the need to reduce CO2 emissions were the main drivers for Islington Council as they committed to channelling waste heat from the Northern Line.

The project will provide cheaper and greener heat to buildings in the area, of which many are council housing or leisure centres. The scheme is run in conjunction with Ramboll and Transport for London. “We believe that the use of large-scale heat in this way connected to urban district heating systems will play a major part in decarbonising the UK’s heating energy demand”, says Lucy Padfield, Director of district heating at Ramboll.

    Waste heat in action…

Utilising waste heat is key to reducing energy costs and lowering CO2 emissions and this is exactly what our G-GEN™ units do.

The by-product from the electricity generation process within our G-GEN™ units is free heat. And rather than venting this heat, the clever G-GEN™ units capture and re-use within clients wet or refrigeration systems to provide further considerable energy, carbon and fiscal savings.

Furthermore, by generating electricity locally, your organisation is shielded from fluctuating markets and actively reducing demand on the already stressed UK infrastructure.

G-GEN™ range from small plug-and-play units to multiple megawatt plants, so if you are looking to reduce carbon emissions, energy costs or achieve some independence from the National Grid, please contact us on 024 76630 8830 or email @ sales@getsolutions.co.uk

Energy Revolution – hybrid energy centre for adventure park

Leading UK adventure park joins the energy revolution

A leading UK adventure theme park has decided to take control of their own energy matters and go off-grid.

Most importantly, the site will create a micro-network, using co-generation and renewable technologies to reduce its grid dependency.

Therefore, the site will become more independent and protected against global/market fluctuations. Furthermore, it will significantly reduce its carbon emissions.
