Carbon Reduction Commitment Consultancy

CRC comes into force in 2009. It aims to reduce emissions from businesses by 1.2 million tonnes per year. The sectors that will have to comply, accounts for approximately 10% of UK emissions (51 MtCO2)

Those that will be affected include large non energy intensive commercial buildings and public sector buildings such as hotels, leisure chains and pub groups and as a rule, organisations with a 6GWH half-hourly consumption threshold (approx spend above £500k per annum) will need to prepare now.

Introductory phases for trading carbon are likely to be in line with the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and within the UK the results of each sector will be published in league tables.

Exemptions are available if 90% of emissions are covered by Carbon Reduction Comittment (CRC), EU ETS or CCA but the purchase of green energy will have no bearing on CRC.

Evidence pack must be prepared for audit by 2009 (events records must be signed by a director showing reporting for core fuels – HH meters, NHH profiles 05-08 and gas with annual AQ above 73,290 kW).

GET Solutions have designed a practical route for data gathering, audit design, scenario modelling, risk policies and action planning. We offer tailored solutions to assist all customers who may be confused on this subject.
