- How do I find out who my supplier is?
There should be some form of correspondence from your existing energy supplier. If you're new into premises and there's nothing that confirms who your supplier is, give us a call and we'll use our industry contacts to find out who currently supplies the energy.
- Where can I find my meter details?
Most suppliers clearly print information regarding your supply on their bills in the form of supply numbers and meter point references. If you can't find it then simply fax us a copy f your bill and we'll advise you accordingly.
- Which is the best supplier to use?
As independent energy consultants, we have no preference over suppliers and deal with all of them to ensure we provide an unbiased approach and give our clients options. Every supplier is different and has their strengths and their weaknesses, but we can help you find which product from which supplier suits your needs.
- I've just moved in to a new building, do I have to stay with the existing supplier?
No. You should inform the incumbent supplier to the premises that you have moved in so they know that you are responsible for the supply. Then you are free to make your decision as to who supplies you. If you are in any doubt or want to clarify what you need to do then contact one of our advisors.
- Why should I use a consultant?
By working with all major suppliers on a regular basis, we have access to pricing and levels of account management that you would not necessarily get directly with a supplier. I addition, by instructing a consultant to work on your behalf, you save yourself the trouble of comparing the various suppliers in terms of price and service.
- Why have my prices gone up?
Energy prices have risen by over 100% in past 12 months. This has been due to several factors which have directly increased the price of natural gas and oil. The majority of electricity is still produced using power stations fuelled by gas and coal. As we continue to use our existing resources, demand continues to out grow supply, resulting in price increases. In addition, transportation costs increase as it becomes more difficult to access and extract the fuel.
- What about green energy?
'Green energy' is a term used to describe energy which has been generated using a renewable resource, wind and solar power for example. Many suppliers have started to implement renewable resources within their electricity generation strategies, and offer tariffs which supplement this development. Most of this work is currently aimed at future generation while a viable alternative to fossil fuels is found.
- How can I keep my bills low?
It can be more economical to replace equipment with more energy efficient versions and ensuring that energy isn't being wasted at your premises. To budget effectively, we recommend submitting your own meter readings every month in addition to the readings taken by the suppliers so that you know how much you're using. As energy prices rise, we find that more people are asking us to look into their energy management requirements, a field that we will be trialling in the large business sector later this year.
- What is a SMART meter?
A 'SMART' meter is a relatively recent addition to many suppliers' product portfolios. There a various types of SMART meter but they essentially perform a very similar task. The idea behind these meters is that they can communicate directly with suppliers, sending accurate consumption information as and when the supplier requires it. This in turn provides more accurate billing as there is no longer a need to estimate consumption figures. As well as accurate billing, many companies also offer online access to this information so that you can see how much you use and when, allowing you to manage your energy usage more efficiently.
- Can you arrange my domestic supply?
No. At present GET solutions only arrange contracts for the commercial sector. However, if you run your business from home or live on your premises (pubs etc) then we can look at arranging a commercial contract for the premises.
